👨🚀 Hello, Commanders!
💡 After almost two years, the HQ publishes the fifteenth SpaceMyths episode. The myth for checking was submitted by Commander Radolf. It concerns the parameter of mass on a ship, specifically how its value affects the thrust and turning speed on the Thane.
Here are the conditions of the myth submitted by Commander Radolf:
❓ Will a fully upgraded Mass parameter affect the thrust and turning speed on a large ship like the Supercarrier?
To test this myth, the HQ received a special build for the Thane. It included all types of Reactive Armor, as well as War Shield, Combat Shield, Hyperion Chaingun, Battle Shield, Grand and Small Reactor, Impact Missile, Point Defense Turret, Small Ion Engine, BM1 Vectored Thruster, and Large Ion Engine. Additionally, the ship had a fully upgraded Mass of Ballistic Modules. The build was tested at a ~1800 rating in the Ship Competition mode. The battles were conducted at x1 speed.

Video of five battles with maximum mass upgrade.
Thus, the HQ staff concluded that on a large ship like the Thane, the effect of upgrading mass is hardly noticeable. The thrust and turning speed were only slightly increased with full mass upgrades. However, the effect of improved maneuverability due to fully upgrading the mass of modules is more noticeable on smaller ships. But that’s a different story altogether.
➕ Myth partially confirmed!
